Would
you like to walk the pilgrim route to Santiago de Compostela in northern Spain but
do not have the time available to complete it? Join Judy Foot who walked the
500 mile route five years ago in aid of Breakthrough Breast Cancer and Alison
de Candole, a Blue Badge Tour Guide on their tour. Walking small representative
parts of the Way of Saint James, the second part of this fascinating route (
about 350 miles) is covered in 8 days
with the help of a coach, visiting wonderful monasteries and churches,
staying in good accommodation and eventually arriving in Santiago de Compostela
at the Shrine of St James. We will be running this tour in September 2002. More
details below:

Saturday 21 September – Saturday 28 September 2002
Join
Judy Foot and Alison de Candole for a nine-day (eight-night) tour of the second
part of the Camino de Santiago de Compostela. Meeting in Burgos, we hopefully
have time to explore the city , its Cathedral and network of small streets
before our introductory talk and dinner at a restaurant near the hotel.
We
travel along the Camino by coach and walk parts of it – generally about 10 – 15
kilometres a day - chosen because they are a pleasure to walk and not too
difficult. We visit monasteries and churches to admire the spirit that created
the wonderful art and architecture and we enjoy the company of the group each
evening at dinner. The accommodation is generally of a high standard and we
stay in the world-famous Parador de los Reyes Catolicos in Santiago de
Compostela which is always a great treat.
All evening meals are included and some lunches as well as the use of the coach for 8 days so that the walking is always optional. Entrance fees to all places of interest are included in the itinerary. The price of the tour is £850 based on two people sharing a twin or double room. There is a supplement of £125 for single use of a room.
Flights to and from Spain are not included but we are pleased to offer help with flight bookings through a travel agent. Information is also available on travel to Burgos once you arrive in Spain. More information on this tour is available HERE.
Walks/Tours can be arranged in the following regions of France - Provence, Burgundy and Alsace as well as in a delightful area of Switzerland.
A walk/tour will also be available in the future through the Great and Small Gardens of Dorset. Please indicate if you would like to be kept informed when these tours are available.
